Hi everyone!

Melissa Murphey of Ishtar here!

I know several of you are musicians and/or drummers and I wanted to
tell you about the new recording that Carmine Guida and I did that is
designed for musicians and drummers to practice with. There are no
distracting vocals, no 14 piece bands, no excessive ornamentation,
just plain straightforward melody and rhythm. No frills or fills.
Just the notes and just the rhythms.

There are 12 mp3s available at www.dorku.com for immediate upload at
1 dollar each. Click on "buy credits" at the top of the page and use
the paypal site to buy credits that let you purchase from the dorku
site.

In a week or so, the CD of the 12 songs will be available: Simplified
Middle Eastern Songs for Learning and Practice.

But why wait? Get the mp3s now!

In addition, the sheet music for the songs is available from
www.dorku.com in the same key as the recordings.

We also have guitar tablature and bass clef melodies posted, as well
as sheet music for Concert C instruments and B flat (for that special
clarinet player, trumpet player, or soprano sax player in your life).
The sheet music is for immediate download, no shipping necessary!

I am thinking about posting music for Alto Sax (E flat). If anyone
wants it, let me know.

Our tentative date for the next Jalsah (Jalsah Pittsburgh IV) is
Friday April 27. It would be great if all of you could be here. I am
in negotiations to bring Umut Yasmut, a world class Turkish kanun
master from New York City, to Pittsburgh for the Jalsah and a special
performance. What an opportunity to sit in with Umut and play music
in DaBurgh!
