 some magnets from a dismantled coupling, 
a set of cake figures, some checkers
, some leftovers and some JAL stuff. 
And this old one was off the streets for a while.

Hi Hans,

This should be in some attraction of the Efteling 🙂.

I wonder how you did the mechanics under the hood since the ballerina's move and rotate at the same time and that seems complex (but I am not a mechanical expert).

The pwm driven central disk has 5 free running satellite wheels in which the same magnets are located that are in the feet of the dancers.
The large gear is fixed to the free running aluminum top plate.
A brake coil sends a pin upwards and can thus block the rotation of the top plate.
When the brake is released, the plate will simply rotate with the central disk due to the clamping of the magnets. The dancers then only rotate along.
When the plate is blocked, the satellite wheels will start to rotate and move through the central disk. The dancers then continue to rotate.
The blocking can occur in three places.

Hello David,
I downloaded the MIDI files of the music.
All channels, except the melody, removed.
The sound changed to “MUSIC BOX”
The MIDI file converted to MP3
.. and then the mini MP3 player plays them in random.
