Once in a blue moon event for sky gazers on New Year's eve
PTI 29 December 2009, 11:17am IST

NEW DELHI: A once in a blue moon event awaits sky gazers on New Year's eve.

When a second full moon in a calendar month appears in the night sky, the occurrence is known as a blue moon.

There are 12 full moons most years but every two or three years there is an extra full moon which is called a blue moon.

"We've already had a full moon on December 2 and the next one is on New Year's Eve that is on December 31," Science Popularisation Association of Communicators and Educators (SPACE) president C B Devgun said.

On rare occasions the moon actually had a blue appearance - often caused by smoke from large-scale fires or excessive dust particles in the atmosphere.

Explaining the phenomena of blue moons, Devgun said the moon cycle takes about 29.53 days to complete that is almost a month. That is why there's one full moon once a month, at least on most years.

Hi everyone:

2010 is upon us!!!

What’s the new year resolution for each of you….  Just thought I will wish each of you on the mailing list a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR. Prosperous and Peaceful so that your dreams and aspirations gets fulfilled!

As I sign off… just thought I will let you know what I am attempting this year. RECONCILIATION. A very powerful word/experience that opens up God’s blessings in our lives.

Have we relationships that have gone sour, with parents, with spouses, with brothers, with best friends, with office mates, with neighbors….  Maybe it’s time we just bottle up our egos and Go and say ‘Sorry’ or just a Hug and break down years of pain or unforgiveness in our hearts.

I have my own challenges, my own set of people that I am planning to approach during the course of this year! People who could have treated me better in my youth, employers who could have been more gracious, friends who could have been less bitter in judging me, cousins and uncles who should have helped in my times of need…. Reconciliation, I think is important!

‘Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who Sin against us’; How often have we prayed the Lord’s prayer… This is the key to unlocking the treasures of Heaven.

May 2010 be the start of our journey to reconciliation! I invite you to do this personally, your quiet arrangement with the GOD of the universe!! . Watch the Lord JESUS do wonders in our lives

God bless each of you and your families!

Regards

Anand Mathew
