Role: Lead z/OS System Engineer
Location:  Primarily remote, onsite only as needed, approximately 2-3 times a year in DC or Reston, VA. Candidates must reside in the DMV + WV region and be on-site for the final interview.

Duration: 12-month contract-to-hire
Candidate Status Requirement: USC/GC

Summary: CareFirst is looking for a Lead z/OS System Engineer to augment their

Currently, FEPOC is also on a SysPlex (System Complex) with CareFirst Commercial and will be breaking apart in 2026.

• 5+ years of experience in z/OS programming, CICS TS, MQ, and DB2 administration or development
• Experience with batch scheduling using Control-M
• RACF (Resource Access Control Facility) experience

Nice to have:

• Prior experience within healthcare insurance 

Experience with mainframe security and connectivity through TLS, TCP/IP, VTAM, etc.
