अकार्ये तथ्यो वा भवतु वितथो वा किमपरं
तथाप्युच्चैर्धाम्नां हरति महिमानं जनरवः।
तुलोत्तीर्णस्यापि प्रकटनिहिताशेषतमसो
रवेस्तादृक् तेजो न हि भवति कन्यां गत इति॥
[अकार्ये। तथ्यः। वा। भवतु। वितथः। वा। किम्। अपरम्।
तथा। अपि। उच्चैर्धाम्नाम्। हरति। महिमानम्। जनरवः।
तुलोत्तीर्णस्य। अपि। प्रकट-निहित-अशेष-तमसः।
रवेः। तादृक्। तेजः। न। हि। भवति। कन्याम्। गतः। इति॥]
{akārye tathyo vā bhavatu vitatho vā kimaparaṃ
tathāpyuccairdhāmnāṃ harati mahimānaṃ janaravaḥ.
tulottīrṇasyāpi prakaṭanihitāśeṣatamaso
ravestādṛk tejo na hi bhavati kanyāṃ gata iti..}
In cases of improper deed — whether the people's talks (i.e. proclamations) are (ethically) proper or improper (=just or unjust), or the other way around — it always destroys the greatness of elevated individuals. Just like the brilliance of the sun, which dispels darkness, has passed over the Tulā to enter Kanyā [rāśi).
