Hi all,

The subject says it all... What do people think ?

The main advantage would be having use of github's pull request feature.

A possible disadvantage is having to move from the google issue
tracker to github's but it seems there are tools for that, e.g.
https://github.com/alexrudnick/migrate-googlecode-issues

if you like we should be able to set you up with JIRA on codehaus - the github issue tracker is pretty primitive (does not allow you to attach files for example).

+1
Both GeoTools and GeoServer saw an increase in contributed patches
as we moved from svn to GitHub.
Regardless if its technical merits, it's where most part of the open source
people are.

Cheers
Andrea

Thanks Andrea - that sounds encouraging.

Jody - would setting up Jira for the project be a lot of work ?

+1 on moving to github.

That said, given the size of JAI-Tools I don't believe we need another
baby to look after (JIRA).
Github issue are just fine.

Of coures, that's just me.

Well, as a simple man I like simple things, so let's go with the
github tracker to start with. I'll investigate importing the current
issue lists for jaitools and jiffle (which I'll also move to github).

Please hold off on commits for the next day or two.

Jody: thanks anyway for the offer of Jira help - much appreciated.

Dear all,

Progress so far...

Sources with full history, plus all issues (minus any file
attachments) for JAITools and Jiffle have been copied to GitHub:

git://github.com/mbedward/jaitools.git
git://github.com/mbedward/jiffle.git

The Hudson jobs for both projects now point to GitHub:

http://hudson.opengeo.org/hudson/view/jai-tools/

As does Ohloh:

https://www.ohloh.net/p/jaitools

For the moment the Google Code repos are still online as just-in-case backups.
