Hello,

Is there a way to configure this to do failover? If one instance goes down, another instance on a different server will have the current state of the lease database synced to it. When the first server comes back up, it should "resync" to any changed lease database entries of the counterpart server. I ask as I have been trying to get a cross-platform DHCP solution (specifically Windows/Solaris). Naively, I would think that syncing the database by keeping it on a network share could work.

http://linux.die.net/man/5/dhcpd.conf has a good description of how linux DHCP implementations usually handle failover.

I actually co-authored the original DHCP failover RFC drafts in 1998, so I am very familiar with this.  I designed the Jagornet DHCP server to support multiple database backends specifically to allow use of a network share for the database or to rely on the underlying database's replication capabilities. However, the server itself requires a server-to-server protocol to recognize failover conditions and to react accordingly.  That implementation is being designed for v3.0 of the Jagornet DHCP server.  We do not yet have a firm timeframe for that release, but are hoping to have it available in the beginning of 2016.

Best regards,
