Aycock Battle of the Books team in State Finals!

Hi everyone,

 

Just a quick note to let you know that Aycock's Battle of the Books team won the GCS championship (2nd year in a row) AND the regional championship.  They will be in the state finals this Friday, May 7 at UNCG.  Think good thoughts and wish them luck!

 

All but one of the team members are Spanish Immersion students and therefore Jones alumni.  They are:  6th grade - Sydney Carter, Allie Naude, Genna Singer; 7th grade - Selena Drees, Madeleine Braye, Claire Hendrickson, Charlotte Fowler, Grace Stafford, Jeremy Kelly, Cory Antin; 8th grade - Summer Morgan.

 

I do think that the strong emphasis that Jones placed on the importance of reading has played a big part in their success, as has their previous participation in BOB at Jones.
