Bismillah Arrahman Arraheem

As-salamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatoh,

Rāyyan bin Shabeeb (the maternal uncle of Mo'tasim),  says that I went to meet Imām Ali ar Rezā (alayhi salām) on the First day of the month of Muharram

Imām Alī ibn Mūsā al-Rezā (alayhi salām) asked:

“O son of Shabeeb! Are you in the state of fasting today”?

I (Rāyyan bin Shabeeb) replied in the negative. Imām (alayhi salām) continued,

“This is the day when Prophet Zakariyyah (alayhi salām) prayed to his Lord thus:
“Lord grant me from unto Thee a good offspring, Verily Thou art the Hearer of Prayers” (Surah al-Ali Imran, 3:38).

Then Allāh accepted his Prayers and commanded His Angels to go and give him glad tidings regarding the birth of his son Prophet Yahyā (alayhi salām). The Angels came and called out to him while he was engaged in Prayers in the niche. Hence the one who fasts on this day and asks for his desires from Allāh, his Prayer will be answered as was of Zakariyāh (alayhi salām).”

2 rakat Namaz on Last day of Dhu'l hajjah (Zilhajj)

The last day of Dhu’l-hijjah is the last day of the year in the Arabic/islamic calendar.

It is recommended to offer a two unit prayer on this day.

Recite Surah al-Fatiha once, and Surah al-Tawheed and Ayat ul-Kursi each ten times.

After the salaah, it is recommended to recite the following dua:

اَللَّهُمَّ مَا عَمِلْتُ فِي هٰذِهِ ٱلسَّنَةِ

O Allah, as for any act that I have done in this year

from those that You have warned me against doing and You have been displeased with it,

I have forgotten it but You have not,

and You have called me to  repent after I have dared to challenge You,

O Allah, I am now praying You to forgive those actions ; so, (please) forgive me.

As for any action done that draws me near to You,

(please) accept it from me and never cut off my hope in You, O All-generous!

If these statements are said, Satan will say,
“Woe to me! All the efforts that I have exerted throughout this year for misleading this person have been failed by the utterance of these statements.”

Besides, one who says these words will be testified by the year that he sealed it in a good way.
