I am excited to share with you an initiative very close to our hearts: The "1000 Backpacks Campaign". Our mission is to ensure every child has the essential school supplies they need to succeed, particularly our Shia Afghan refugee families in the DC metropolitan area and students in Maryland public schools that we have established connections with.
Our campaign aims to raise funds and collect donations by July 6, 2023, which auspiciously aligns with the day of Eid Ghadir. Funds can be directly donated here: https://www.launchgood.com/campaign/backpack_and_school_supplies_fundraiser#!/
We have also created an Amazon Gift registry, allowing you to purchase items like normal on Amazon, with the added benefit that your purchases will automatically be shipped to our donation address. The funds we collect will be utilized to bulk purchase school supplies, significantly lowering the cost per item, and enabling us to supply more to children who need them. We are teaming up with the Shia Muslim Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and donations to our campaign through Launchgood will go directly to them (www.shiamuslimfoundation.com) - and will be tax deductible.
We also welcome direct khums to this project through the Al Hadi Learning Organization (https://alhadi.school/index.php/support-al-hadi/).
We will also be hosting a special event where we will sort and package all the backpack supplies, preparing them for delivery. This event will be a true embodiment of unity, generosity, and service to our community, and we would love for you to be a part of it.
This campaign is an effort put together by the Shia Muslim Foundation, the IEC Girl Scout Troop, the Al Hadi Learning Organization, and Who Is Hussain Maryland. We are counting on your support to make this campaign a success, and to bring a smile to the face of every child who will receive these backpacks. Together, we can make a significant difference in their lives.
