For our research we are utilizing a DVS128 camera in conjunction with the jAER software. When using the jAER software there is a slider labeled "Threshold" in the camera settings. Within the software there is no unit of measurement for the threshold value or any other values so we are curious as to what those exact units would be.

The User Control Panel for DVS128 already showed the estimated thresholds computed based on  Y. Nozaki and T. Delbruck, “Temperature and Parasitic Photocurrent Effects in Dynamic Vision Sensors,” IEEE Trans. Electron Devices,  2017.

I just pushed changes to include the estimated photoreceptor bandwidth under high illumination, assuming the photoreceptor is biased stronger than the source follower buffer which is the correct strategy for lower event noise.
It will be in the next jAER release or you can pull and build to get these enhancements.

Let me know if this helps.
Thanks for asking about this
Tobi

This is what the new control panel looks like:

I added the computation of estimated refractory period too now.

Hey, we are now using the jAER version 2.3.0 and we noticed that there are now on, off, and on and off events being recorded where previously there was only on and off events. (We were on version 1.6) Do you know if there is a way for us to turn off the on and off events and just have the camera pick up on, off events? Thanks

Not sure what you mean, do you mean now you are getting yellow pixels?
That means there are ON and OFF events in the same pixel during that
accumulation time.

Can you share an aedat recording?

Yes the yellow pixels are precisely what I am talking about. We were wondering if there was a way to turn those off and keep it to just the red and green like we had with the older version of the software?

Could you share a short recording that shows this? I want to check if
these are real events or some new rendering problem. Also, please check
if you still see them when decreasing accumulation time (play slower
with 's').

It may also be that you got new DVS128 biases that are higher bandwidth
or lower threshold that causes more events.
