Is the area above where the tracks stop clear of  tree branches or is it covered up by the canopy?

It's bushy and there are lots of trees.  The ground is still moist from the rain earlier.

Ok, but, if Tara looks up from that area, Does she see clear sky, stars, or is it cloudy and overcast, or is the sky blocked by trees?

Shes thinking something came down, if its open then its possible, she thinks

You can see both trees and sky.

The tracks came off the road and then went back to it.  What makes you look to the sky?

Just a thought, does not know enough about magic to think about spells, thinking more along the lines of an airship, or a wyvern or maybe a dragon picked them up along with the box

 Occ Yes Daergast was just inferring he was obviously intoxicated from all the complimentary drink and food.  It is however the recharge on the spells deal though.

He'll keep silent in character though.
