Subject: Call For Papers 2009 Conference
Greetings and Blessings of this Holy Season of Easter to all of you! Attached, please find the "Call for Papers" for our 33rd annual International Maritain Conference in Houston, Texas, sponsored by The University of St. Thomas. Slated for October 22 - 24th, 2009, our theme, which derives from Maritain's book of the same name, is: "St. Thomas and the Problem of Evil." Our list of Plenary Speakers, while still developing, already includes Fr. Joseph Koterski, S.J., (our 2008 "Scholarly Excellence" award recipient), Laura Garcia, John Knasas, and Steve Long. A lot more information and details to come; for now, dust off your copy of Maritain's little yet powerful book (or enjoy it for the first time!), and begin to plan your paper proposal for this year's conference.
Also, for those who may not have already done so, please pay your 2009 membership dues. In addition, it would really be a great help if you would print out this "Call for Papers" and pass it along (electronically or on paper) to all those you know who may share an interest in this topic, in the good scholarship and fellowship our annual Maritain conferences, and in the goals and mission of our association. "Maritain, Mission, and Membership" are the three "Ms" upon which we depend! Thanks so much for your assistance and participation! VP Gavin Colvert, local conference chair John Hittinger, and I look forward to welcoming you to Houston in October!
