I created Jacquard for a couple of related reasons. Agile development
methodologies emerged as a way to try to reduce the failure rate in
traditional enterprise development. They're not too bad to use in Web
projects, but there is so much that's special and even revolutionary
about Web architecture and Web development that it deserves special
attention. Just using, say XP or Scrum without guidance specialized for
Web characteristics is like weight-lifting for the arms and chest but
leaving yourself toothpick legs. You might feel empowered, but you're
in danger of toppling.
Anyway I continue to work on the core ideas, but it's time to get more
people involved. I hope you get a chance to pitch in. For now the Wiki
is locked down, but I'd be happy to get anyone an account, and soon I
hope to figure out a model where we can open things up more without
inviting vandalism. Yes, yes, I know the Wiki way and all, but I've
been burned by Wiki vandals lately (they're getting as bad as e-mail
spammers), and I have very limited time for cleanup, so I'd rather start
cautious at the start.
Thanks again.
