Code coverage for external EAR, JAR using Jacoco

I am new to testing and code coverage. I would like to know the code coverage for my maven project, using jacoco. Here is my scenario.

1. I have a maven project which is built and deployed as EAR on a server.
2. I have test cases written in testNG at a separate place.
3. I would like to run the class files in the EAR using my test-cases.
4. I should be able to see the coverage report as a html file after tests are run.
5. Please help me understand this (please give step-by-step solution).
