How do I switch EclEmma to use the default Eclipse launcher instead of VisualVM?

The topic title says it all. I've just installed EclEmma, and it does exactly what I need it to do. However, instead of using the default Eclipse launcher, it's using VisualVM, which pops up a group of windows that I don't want. It's a minor annoyance, but minor annoyances build up over time. How do I configure EcEmma to use the default launcher instead?

Hi,

the same way than in the launch/debug mode: In the coverage launch
dialog there is a "JRE" tab to select the JRE.

I don't think this is what was asked. In the Run Configurations and Debug Configurations dialogs, the first tab (called "Main" for a java app launch or "Test" for a junit launch) has an item at the bottom that reads "Using XXX Launcher... Select Other" where "Select Other" is a link that pops up a list of available launchers - not JREs. There doesn't appear to be anything like this in the Coverage Configurations dialog.

I too am experiencing the same annoyance as was reported in this thread. I just installed EclEmma today, and I used it for several hours without the problem, after the initial eclipse restart following installation. But now every time I try to launch with coverage, VisualVM is popping up, which is very annoying.

I'd love to know if there's a way, short of uninstalling VisualVM, to get this to stop.

Hmm... now this morning I launch eclipse and it's not happening. Perhaps there some nondeterminism involved during eclipse startup, like some list of available launchers gets populated in an unpredictable order, and eclemma just uses the first one on that list or something?

This definitely seems like something that ought to be configurable in the coverage configurations dialog, and also in the Run/Debug->Launching->Default Launchers preference dialog.

I'm also encountering this issue and short of uninstalling EclEmma I have not found a working solution.

Opened an issue for this for further investigation: https://github.com/jacoco/eclemma/issues/112
