Hello,

I and a group of other highly motived master's students would like to contribute to this project. We have already used jacoco in previous projects.

We found this issue on Github and wanted to ask for feedback if it is still relevant and wanted: https://github.com/jacoco/jacoco/issues/993

If not is there another issue we can contribute to? We could also imagine writing or improving tests.

Thank you and with best regards,
Niko

Hallo Niko,

first of all sorry for the late reply.

Filtering is a tricky subject that raises many questions and requirements. Maintaining the filters became our main task here at the JaCoCo project especially as there are many dimensions to it: Source Language, Compiler Versions, JaCoCo version, additional frameworks used etc. Due to our very limited resources we decided to not add additional maintenance complexity by adding configuration options to the filtering. This would make it even harder reproduce problems reported by users.

If not is there another issue we can contribute to? We could also imagine writing or improving tests.

Absolutely welcome! Are you more thinking of a one-time contributions or would you be willing to commit for a longer time to help with maintenance?

Cheers,
-marc
