A water lead level of 5,000 parts per billion is classified as hazardous waste. The highest level of lead found in Flint water: 13,200 parts per billion!
At least 8,600 children under 6 years old have likely been exposed to lead from the water.
Rashes. E. coli. Loss of eyesight. Mental disabilities
Just some of the effects of the dirty water on our Flint neighbors.
This travesty is happening to people who already have to fight to survive poverty: Flint is the second most-impoverished city in this country.
We must help them...
and we are! IRUSA is giving clean, bottled-water to thousands of residents in Flint—we are starting distributions this week. We're also working with local groups to make sure the water bottles will be picked-up and recycled.
But we're not stopping there: We are exploring what additional resources we can give to help our neighbors in Flint.
Join us in this effort and donate to IRUSA's United States Humanitarian Aid fund. Even $10 can help provide a family with clean water.
Give Flint clean water.
