Muslim Girl Scouts at World Thinking Day 2016
Muslim Girl Scout Troop 30342 shone brightly among the 200 Girl Scout participants who attended this year’s World Thinking Day Event on Friday, February 19th, 2016 at Vestal Middle School. Organized around the theme, “connect”, girls were encouraged to build their sisterhood by learning about different countries and cultures and sampling traditional cuisines.
Spotlighting Pakistan, the Juniors (Grade 4-5) assembled a high-tech presentation that won them the award for “Best Use of Technology”. The Daisies and Brownies (K-3) effortlessly presented an amazing, traditional ludi dance.
The Cadettes and Seniors (Grades 7/10) tackled the issue of Islamophobia and breaking down stereotypes about Muslim Girls through a thought-provoking display that earned them a special shout-out by the organizers and the award for “Most Inspiring”.
Serving Roohafzha, samosas and nimco as treats, the girls did an awesome job and made our community proud. They were also featured on the nightly news. Please click the following link:
