Kids Against Hunger
It’s a Humanitarian Crisis!
Help us feed starving refugees fleeing violence.
The Children of Abraham of the Southern Tier(COA) is sponsoring an interfaith event to help feed refugees living in camps in Jordan and Greece. We are working with Kids Against Hunger. It is a a national organization whose mission includes feeding starving children and their families throughout the world. http://kidsagainsthunger.org/
The COA is joining with Kids Against Hunger in making nutritional food packages to send to refugee camps in Jordan and Greece. Get involved with us!!
We feel helpless as we read every day about the millions of refugees escaping the conflicts in Syria, Iraq, and other countries in the Middle East. Many are living in huge refugee camps, and there is not enough food reaching them to meet their basic nutritional needs. We have found a way to help.
You and your congregation or organization can help this with humanitarian crisis in 3 ways:
1. Help us publicize! Put out the enclosed information on your bulletin board, your newsletter, or email list.
2. Help us raise money! $1.00 can provide 4 meals; $10.00, 40 meals; $25.00, 100 meals. You can collect money as an organization and send a group check to the Children of Abraham or individuals can send money directly to us.
3. Help package the meals! Kids Against Hunger will set up meal packing stations for us pack meals assembly line style. Your organization can sign up to send groups to make the meal packets or you can encourage individuals or families to sign up on their own.
We have set a goal to make 20,000 meals at this event so we will need to raise $5,000.00. If each of the 250 faith communities in Broome County raised $20.00, we would meet that goal. The more money we raise by March 1, the more meals we can commit to packing on April 3.
For more information, please check out our website, interfaithbroomecounty.com, on our Facebook group Children of Abraham Southern Tier, or contact Rabbi Barbara Goldman-Wartell at 607-723-7355.
Checks can be made out to Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Binghamton with COA Meal Packing Event in the memo line. Your donation is tax deductible.
The mega packing event is on Sunday April 3, in the afternoon at St. Michaels Church, 296 Clinton St. Binghamton, NY 13905. More information to follow.
