Hi all, but Thomas in particular. ;)

I've got a bit of time now to start looking into multiplayer JACL
finally, particularly at the use of a database to store all state
information including messages between users etc.

Are you able to give me a bit of a run down about where things are at
- ie, what is working, what isn't, what needs my help and what you are
planning to do yourself when you get the time?

Thanks!

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

well, currently all seems to work quite well, as far as I have tested.
Users may login, see one another coming and going, may chat around and
then log out again.
Messages to users are displayed if a user logs in, logs out, leaves a
room or enters a room.
The portal and account management is there, too. So that's it ;-)
I have checked in the current state.

My plans currently are to do something about real "interactive
fiction", so to create some real content now.
But I think I need a longer break for this now to think it over.

My job is completely exhausting me at the moment leaving no creative energy :-(

Have a nice time!
Thomas

Hi Thomas

Glad to hear your multiplayer code is coming along nicely, sorry that
work doesn't
leave you with the time and energy to make a game at the moment! I
know how
you feel though, I've just come back from a work trip up north and
struggling to find
the time to finish The Bloody Guns. I'm hoping to put it in next
year's Spring Thing
now that they have allowed previous IntroComp entries.

I'll also start looking at the multiplayer database stuff as well.
When the energy isn't
there to be creative it's usually still possible to look at something
that is purely
technical.

Take care,
Stuart
