Whenattempting to access the SVG2482AC Web Manager, the SVG2482AC prompts for an admin username and password. By default, the username is admin, and the password is password. If the SVG2482AC is using the default password, it will prompt to change it. For network security purposes, ARRIS recommends changing the default admin password. The link below shows how to change the default admin password.
Hi all,
I just bought a new SB8200 from Amazon and performed a factory reset. When I access the modem remotely I'm not prompted for any login credentials and I see no options to add them. According to Arris I should be prompted for a username and password ( _FAQs/SB8200-Web-Manager-Access).
I think it is a little unsecure in that someone on your wifi can interupt service for a short perior by browsing to the modem's admin page and resetting the device. Other than that I don't see any security holes. You could block access to this IP using firewall rules on some routers, (this is straight forward to do on my pfSense router!).
I have experieced the same no login page as everyone else on my SB8200. But today I was trying to check my signal levels and am now hitting a login page. But nothing I have tried has worked. Arris says the default for this device is Username = "admin" Password = "password".
All of a sudden, my arris SB8200 is asking to log in to check modem status IE Powers levels, errors, etc. (Im using 192.168.100.1 as I always have) I never used to get a log in screen before. It appears Xfinity did a firmware update that all of a sudden does not allow me to access my modem interface. Is there a default password that is used to get into the modem? Seems a bit messed up since I purchased my pwn equipment. This worked perfectly fine 2 days ago. Please advise as I use this all the time to check signals levels, etc
Characters in passwords usually are, but thanks for posting that this is the case for the SB8200. Note that _FAQs/SB8200-Web-Manager-Access states that the new custom password you enter must meet these requirements:
@andyross Andy Thanks for this very timely advice, it's a life saver. I had exactly this same problem and your tip worked! I wasn't prompted to set up a custom password but I did anyway so that I didn't have to remember the SN. Thanks for ending the fruatration I'd been having trying to login.
Will I cripple internet access for my network (for an extended period of time) until Comcast can reprovision the modem or can I expect to have the modem re-initialize quickly and allow me to reset the Admin password for the modem? Appreciate any comments before I pull the trigger this evening.
Same on my router. I tried the factory default password "password" and it worked. So I was then able to reset my admin password. I do not understand how my admin password was changed to the factory default.
@jraycjay My issue is that I forgot my last password I changed to after updating from the default admin password: 'password'. I believe Comcast periodically will update firmware, reprovision the modem or send administration information to my modem for network performance, compatibility, etc. Since I've not factory reset my modem before, I didn't want to kill my internet for the day while I try to reach Comcast to reprovision my modem on their network. Apparently, this won't happen. I'm planning to reset the modem this evening after everyone is done working/doing school in our house.
Next, you are presented with the "System Basic Setup" page. Your current WiFi network name is displayed in the "Wireless Network Name (SSID)" field. Your current WiFi network password is displayed in the "Pre-Shared Key" field.
To Change WiFi Network Name
In both the Wireless 2.4 GHz and Wireless 5 GHz sections change the "Wireless Network Name (SSID)" field to the new network name. NOTE: Be sure to retain the "-5G" at the end of the Wireless 5GHz SSID field.

If you are having trouble with your Arris router and can't find a proper setting to fix it, or you don't know the Arris modem login information for your device and think it may have been changed, reset the device to factory settings. Hi, new member here. So here is my quandry:
Equipment: Arris TG3452A gateway and Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router plugged into Port #1 on Arris(not sure that matters)
- Had Arris running in bridge mode using Netgear as the router (this has been working normally for over a year)
- Have set SSIDs on Netgear for 2.4 and 5ghz, with channel as auto on 2.4 (looks like it is using ch 10) and 513 on 5ghz
- WPA2 security
Now the fun begins > Last Friday with a slight power glitch connectivity drops, Arris reboots and now Netgear will not connect to internet.
Reboot Netgear same problem.
Try to log into Arris but it won't take my password that I created way back when. Hmmm, that's weird.
Call ISP and they reset it back to factory default. Try to log in as admin again with password as password. Nope !
Now try preshared key from label. Nope!
One of ISP techs said that Arris did firmware update 2 weeks ago and that when the gateway restarted they think the user name got changed to password in error. Really? Anyway tried that with password as password again. NOPE ! Tried preshared key...NOPE!! Now getting annoying.
Ok next day another factory reset is done and now I could get in with admin and preshared key as pw. ISP said they have never seen password as password not work after reset.
Ok, now I can get into gateway BUT when gateway is set to bridge mode , the Netgear will not receive internet. Sooo, took Arris out of bridge mode and Netgear gets internet connectivity. Netgear retained the SSIDs I set with the WPA2 security and Arris has its' own SSIDs and security.
All devices in the house are working ok, but I'm now sitting here with two routers running at the same time which I understand is not a great idea.
Does anyone have a clue as to what may have happened and/or how to remedy this so the Netgear connects with Arris in bridge mode again ?
The ISP has kind of throwin' in the towel.
BTW I use the Netgear because it's range is better than the Arris in my house.
Thanks for any help.
