Hello Forum

I am running into an annoying issue with AVL-MX (Linux Debian 10)when I want to use the machine as a SERVER. The Connection with JackTrip is established but I get no audio coming in. I am able to send audio as a CLIENT but not receive it. JackTrip documentation says check the firewall, this has been entirely disabled but I still get no audio. I can PING both machines successfully.

the only different thing I manage to observe is that the AVL machine receives

Client Connection Received from IP : ::ffff:10.0.0.1

with those "ffff". this does not happen the other way around. The working server machine would output

Client Connection Received from IP :10.0.0.1

I am running into problems troubleshooting as I check my settings and they are exactly the same as in the other computers I manage to make it work. How can I check what is happening? Is there other settings I should be checking?

In the MX forum they asked if JackTrip writes any configs or mod any system configs?

zita-n2j also fails.

anyhelp is appreciated

On my server, I don’t need to “hear” audio coming in or going out on the server. All I care about on the server is that the connections from and to the clients are made. I can tell because when a client connects I automatically see the graphed connections happening among the clients in qjackctl, which I run after starting JackTrip in terminal. Now you may not be using qjackctl on the server, but it sure helps to see what’s going on. So, if you run qjackctl, my question would be: Are the graphed connections being made? If the connections are being made between clients, the you have some app on the server hijacking the audio. If the graphed connections are not being made, then I suggest you have port problems. Regardless of your firewall status, verify the ports used by JackTrip are open using a port checker like https://portchecker.co/ or I suppose you could telnet to check the ports.

Hello Michael,

thanks for the answer, I do use qjackctl and jacktrip does draw its cables indicating jacktrip is working as in other computers, I just get no audio out. However, I am making some progress, I think it has to be with the firewall, looks like turning it off wasn't sticking so I started to create some rules for it but I hope to get some more significant progress today.

cheers

UPDATE:

after testing and testing, I found out I was using version 1.1. as soon as I updated, my problems with jacktrip stopped... and now there is even a GUI interface
