Beginning on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 and each Wednesday thereafter Jackson County Missouri ARES will be conducting a Digital Training (JCADTN).  This net will meet at 8:30 P.M. local time each Wednesday evening.   The net will have voice and digital mode components.

The Jackson County ARES Digital Training Net (JCADTN) will concentrate on the use of Fldigi/Flmsg and other components of these two pieces of software and others that support Fldigi in the utilization of digital communications that support ARES and served agencies communications needs in times of emergency.

There will be a voice component for questions and answers pertaining to digital communications and the session's training component.  The digital check-in and practice of the training presented will begin after the voice portion of the net has concluded.

For example, February 1st training will cover configuration of Flmsg for seamless operation with Fldigi when formatting, saving, receiving, printing and transmitting traffic.

Subsequent sessions will deal with such topics as:  configuration of Fldigi, formatting and using Flmsg components i.e. Radiograms, Red Cross forms etc. ICS forms.  Other sessions will feature training on configuring the SignaLink USB; hardware and software; and FLdigi etc.

The Net will begin on Wednesday, Feb 1, 2012 at 8:30 p.m. local on the 146.97 machine with a link to the Blue Springs Missouri repeater to facilitate the widest coverage as possible to eastern Jackson County and other adjacent counties.

For now simplex operation will be on the output of the 97 machine 146.97 no tone.

In addition, a (Homework) assignment will be given that will help the net participants and those who just listen to utilize the skill(s) presented.

Here are two useful links that are very helpful in using Fldigi and Flmsg

It is recommended that hams using Fldigi and Flmsg view these videos before the first net session on February 1, 2012.
