The first meeting of the MECC District Simulated Emergency Test (SET) Planning Committee will meet this Tuesday, May 8. In order to represent your ideas and thoughts at this meeting  I would ask you to take a few minutes and email me your ideas to the requested data below.

 

Ideas, Scenarios and Skills Sets for the 2012 SET Exercise

 

1.     SCENARIO/ACTIVITY-What type of scenario/activity  would you like the SET to address  For example, in all hazard assessments for this area earthquake is near the top-----

SCENARIO 1-  EARTHQUAKE:

 

A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE DEVASTATES CITIES IN THE EASTERN SIDE OF THE STATE  AND ALONG THE MISSOURI RIVER.  KANSAS CITY SUFFERS MAJOR DAMAGE DUE TO LIQUEFACTION BUT  IS STILL DESIGNATED AS AN EVACUATION CENTER .

 

SCENARIO 2 – TERRORIST ATTACK-

 

AN ANARCHIST GROUP, WITH IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES,  DISRUPTS ALL CITY COMMUNICATIONS THIS INCLUDES, but not limited to, all CITY SERVICES, i.e. PUBLIC WORKS, as well as FIRE and POLICE.  Cell phone traffic is disrupted as well due to EMP devices at key switches.

 

2.     SKILL SETS - What skills do you want the OCTOBER SET to access that support the  SCENARIO/ACTIVITY(s) LISTED:

 

Example 1 - Deploy operators and go stations to emergency shelters and become fully functional within two hours after call up.

 

Example 2 - Provide communication services to key city locations and personnel.

 

Example 3 - Level 1 and 2 Radio operators form task teams as requested by City and County Emergency Directors .
