Based on the experiences of the filmmakers behind the project, the 18-minute film explores intersectionality in a powerful way, illustrating the beauty and conflict that can arise as we move between languages, places and societal expectations.

Watch the Q&A featuring writer and director Victor M. Dueas, writer and actor JM Longoria, producers Edward Enriquez-Cohen and Vanessa Perez, and Academy Award-nominated actress Adriana Barraza as they discuss the film Bibi, how they hope educators utilize the lessons of the film and what messages they hope students take away.

Sahib, Biwi aur Ghulam, a 1962 film by Abrar Alvi and Guru Dutt, captures the decline of feudal system and the rise of a new modern life in India in early 20th century.

The film is based on a novel by the same name, written by Bimal Mitra.

In Bhootnath (a villager servant and later a mason), the film finds an invisible ghost, who could observe the grieving, ironic internal life of an impressive palace on one hand and sincerity, courage of an ordinary outcaste woman on the other.

Perhaps the film is referring to the agony of Choti-bahu and resoluteness of Jaba as the final residue from the bygone feudal times.

By depicting that memories of agonized Choti-bahu and determined Jaba continue persist in the character Bhootnath, there is a reference being made to the Indian god of death: Shiva. Here the divine specter is clearly an allusion to that which remains when everything else is gone.

The coming of age genre tends to emphasize the growth of a character throughout a film. Bibi is a coming of age story about a man who finds closure after resentfully returning to his hometown after his fathers passing. Ben, the main protagonist of this story, lost his mother during his childhood. His father, unable to comfort him, suggested they write each other letters. The same way his mother and him used to. The film showed me how close two individuals can become after experiencing similar pain. I can see how Bibi could also be interpreted as a film that shows the change in relationships between family members, especially since the film follows Ben and his father as he grows up.

Coming of age films are usually categorized as movies centered around the theme of youth, growing up, and maturing with a strong focus on a central character development. Bibi does a great way of demonstrating this attribute. Ben at the start of the film is reluctant to return home considering the way he left. But at the end of the film he receives the closure he so desperately needed, which was knowing he did have the support of his father, in a way you could also imply the father grew as well. Simply because he was able to accept his son's choice.

I think it was a beautiful choice, the way the director chose to use flashbacks as a means of telling the story. The flashbacks throughout the film helped us, the audience, see into Ben's memories as he relieved moments with his father. It helped us better understand their relationship and even gave us an insight on just what Ben was thinking.

Bibi hit close to home with the way it allowed us to see how Ben and his fathers relationship changed over time. After the passing of his mother Ben and his father grew closer by exchanging letters. It was both a way for them to communicate but it was also in memory of his mother, since it was something Ben and her would do before her passing.

In Meri Biwi Ka Jawaab Nahin, Sridevi plays Durga, a simple-minded and large-hearted woman. In stark contrast to her husband, Ajay (Kumar), a sombre police officer, Durga loves her chunky sunglasses and shimmering sarees. Ajay adores Durga for her quirks, but is also peeved by her excesses and embarrassed by her foolishness.

That track ends abruptly, ostensibly because it never managed to be filmed as intended. Kumar said in the Koffee with Karan interview that the producer went absconding during the shoot and there was no money to complete the movie. The makers seemed to have used up the existing footage to give the film a semblance of a conclusion. With the generous use of body doubles and sequences that were probably shot in a different context, the film ends with a cheerful, mindless song, in which the lead pair seems as nonplussed as the audience.

The addition of Sanjay Duty is as futile and a step down as Amir Khan's addition to the Dhoom franchise, big stars entering a successful franchise only to make it as shallow and cringe as a KRK review.
There are innumerable problems in this film, but nothing seems as sacrilegious as Tigmanshu Dhulia's inane intent of the film.
It's sad because his style of directing has regressed significantly.

From the beginning till the end, SBaG 3 makes it absolutely clear that no technical expertise should be expected from it. The camerawork (especially in the first half) and the editing are so surprisingly bad that the film feels like a joke at times, one expects better from a director as experienced as Tigmanshu. Even the green screen shots of London are so so bad. But Just like 2013's Bullett Raja that followed up 2012's (highpoint of Dhulia's career) Paan Singh Tomar, this too is a massive letdown.

hate that they casted a mainstream star like sanjay dutt. the star of this franchise IS jimmy sheirgill so casting him makes no sense to me and his plot was completely useless in the big picture of this whole franchise.

Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam is a based on a Bengali novel by Bimal Mitra, providing a glimpse into the fall of feudalism in Bengal during the era of the British Raj. The film explores a platonic relationship between the lonely and beautiful wife of an aristocrat and a hard-working, part-time servant. The film has been rated among the top Bollywood movies ever produced and has won four Filmfare Awards. Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam features starts Guru Dutt, Meena Kumari, Rehman, Waheeda Rehman, and Nasir Hussain. Please join us for an evening of colorful music and classic Hindi film. This film screening is open to the public.

Aditya Pratap Singh is in jail. His wife Madhavi is ruling the roost, enjoying her freedom and position in local politics. This time, screenwriters Sanjay Chauhan and Dhulia make the biwi the puppeteer. But for how long can she outwit her equally unscrupulous husband, who is hanging on to notions of lost grandeur?

The rivalry now extends to another royal house, which is experiencing its own complications. Uday (Sanjay Dutt), the exiled son with a questionable past, is returning home after 20 years. The news causes his father (Kabir Bedi) and younger brother Vijay (Deepak Tijori) serious heartburn. Only his mother (Nafisa Ali) and his mistress Suhani (Chitrangadha Singh) are delighted by his return.

The weakest of the trilogy, this story takes exceedingly long to set up the key players and their motivations. Dhulia does end part three neatly poised for a follow up. That might work too, as long as Gill and Sheirgill are at the epicentre and the gangster is not required to dance and sing romantic songs amidst sand dunes.

Saodat Ismailova: 'The film weaves together three elements: the fairytale, which is totally re-enacted; the ritual which can be seen as an etnographic document; and the story of a contemporary 'Lady of Tuesday', or fairy godmother. I found her in Bibisora Aripova, a surgeon who founded a shelter for female survivors of violence and fire, who are rejected by their families. Women who protect other women exist not only in fairytales.'

I am a newcomer to Bollywood films and so I will watch just about anything because I don't have a clue. I generally look at who is in the cast and if I see big names like Salmon Khan, Karisma Kapoor, etc, I tend to buy the dvd unknowlingly.

This move was downright boring and sexist to boot. It is essentially about a womanising husband, Salman Khan, who gets thrown out by his loving wife and mother of their two adorable children, but in the end she takes him back in, despite the fact that he is no better than the family dog who I rate as a better human being than him.
