Ibought new tablet that was supposed to come with Microsoft Office 365 (free 1 year subscription). I'm hoping the latest Word has a number of problems fixed that I have experienced in Word 2010 and 2013.
I'm trying to use office, but I keep getting prompted to activate it. I'd like to use an offline registration method to avoid sharing any data with Microsoft or the need for a Hotmail account. Or I would like to modify the registry and add the "activated bits" (or whatever they are using to indicate activated).
The tablet you purchased came with Office 365 Personal. Office 365 requires an internet connection in order to activate. Every version of Office requires you to activate your license. Specifically Office 365 Personal is a subscription based service, that allows you to always have the current version of Office installed, for the length your subscription is active.
Internet access is required to install and activate all the latest releases of Office suites and all Office 365 subscription plans. For Office 365 plans, Internet access is also needed to manage your subscription account, for example to install Office on other PCs or to change billing options. Internet access is also required to access documents stored on OneDrive, unless you install the OneDrive desktop app. You should also connect to the Internet regularly to keep your version of Office up to date and benefit from automatic upgrades. If you do not connect to the Internet at least every 39 days, your applications will go into reduced functionality mode, which means that you can view or print your documents, but cannot edit the documents or create new ones. To reactivate your Office applications, reconnect to the Internet. You do not need to be connected to the Internet to use the Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, because the applications are fully installed on your computer.
You cannot It is not possible. All you actually need is a Microsoft Account, but since all Microsoft Accounts, even those connected to another email service come with an Outlook Mail account both are not possible.
License Agreements have been upheld in court numerous times. If you want to be able to use Office without a Microsoft Account, the only thing I can suggest is to, purchase the full version of Office 2013.
If your Office has expired, consider purchasing or subscribing to the latest version of Microsoft Office. This will provide the necessary product key and keep you up-to-date with updates and features.
Are you seeking ways to activate Microsoft Office? There are a few options! You can activate it without a product key, or with one. Or, you can activate an expired version for free. Furthermore, we will discuss how to activate Microsoft Word and Office 365 without payment. Lastly, we will provide instructions on activating Microsoft Office 2019.
Once you have a product key, the activation process is fairly simple. Open an Office application and follow the prompts to enter your product key. This will activate your copy of Microsoft Office and unlock all its features.
For a free Office 365 activation, consider signing up for an educational account. Many schools offer students and faculty access to Office 365 with their school email addresses. This allows you to use all its features without paying for a subscription.
To help with issues you might encounter when installing Microsoft 365 because of slow speeds or unreliable connections, as a first step download the Support and Recovery Assistant tool. (For information about this tool, go here.)
If the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant didn't help, follow the steps below that are specific to your plan. You need to be connected to the internet to download this installer file, but once that's done, you can then install Microsoft 365 offline on a PC at your convenience.
If your Microsoft 365 product is one of the following, you have a Microsoft 365 for home product. This can be a subscription, or a one-time purchase of Microsoft 365 Office, or individual Microsoft 365 application. These products are usually associated with a personal Microsoft account.
If your Microsoft 365 product is one of the following, you have a Microsoft 365 for business product. These products are usually associated with a work or school account, and your Microsoft 365 license (if your subscription has one) came from the organization where you work or go to school.
To download the offline installer, go to
www.office.com. If you're not already signed in with the Microsoft account associated with your copy of Microsoft 365 or Microsoft 365 do that now. If you're signed in with a different account, sign out of that and then sign in again with the correct Microsoft account.
Once the download is complete, open File Explorer and locate a new virtual drive, for example (D:). This drive contains the Microsoft 365 installation files. If you don't see the new drive, locate the image file you downloaded and double-click it. The new drive should appear in your directory.
Select the Microsoft 365 folder from the virtual drive and then double-click either the Setup32.exe to install the 32-bit version of Microsoft 365, or Setup64.exe to install the 64-bit version to begin the offline installation. If you're not sure which version is right for you, see Choose the 64-bit or 32-bit version of Office.
If you have a Microsoft 365 for business product you can use the Microsoft 365 Deployment Tool (ODT) to download and install Microsoft 365 or Microsoft 365 offline. The tool is designed for enterprise environments and runs from the command line, so the steps are more complicated--but they'll still work for installation on a single device.
You must have a Microsoft 365 or Microsoft 365 license assigned to you to install and activate the Microsoft 365 apps. To check if you have one, see What Microsoft 365 business product or license do I have?
If you have a Microsoft 365 Apps for business or Microsoft 365 Business Standard plan, you need to download the Microsoft 365 Apps for business version. For all other plans, download the Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise version. See the following if you're not sure which version to install:
It can take a while to finish downloading and it may look like nothing is happening while the files are downloading. You'll know the installation is complete once the dialog box closes on its own, and a new folder called Office appears in the ODT folder you created earlier.
Were these steps helpful? If so, please let us know at the bottom of this topic. If they weren't, and you're still having trouble installing Office, tell us what you were trying to do and where you had difficulties. We'll use your feedback to double-check our steps and provide additional information.
I am configuring 20 new W10 PCs for a lab. None of this is volume licensing.
I bought the licenses through retail channels. For each PC I purchased a copy of Office Home and Business 2019 (SKU-TSD-03341)
As expected I now have 20 Product keys. I intended to assign and enter a particular key into a particular PC.
However when I attempt to activate office I am prompted to enter an email address.
These are generic lab computers and not specific to a user. How can I activate office with just the key?
I did attempt to use the command
However I received an error, " The Software Licensing Service reported that the product key is invalid."
As a test I validated the the product key worked because I used the Office activation GUI, entering an email address and it accepted the key.
The office 2019 licenses were purchased and I received 20 boxes and inside each box was a card with a valid product key.
When I entered the product key it gave me no option other than to enter an email address.
You can't get away installing Office2013+ retail without a Microsoft account. Please contact Microsoft licensing support and see if they can help you transfer to VL license so you can manage with KMS.
If they can't, most likely you'll have to create a central Microsoft account to host all the product keys, and then use that user as local admin to install Office in those machines. (This takes advantage of the fact that it won't use an "already activated" key on different computers) However you should still check with Microsoft licensing support and see if there is any problem (I vaguely remember there is a limit for number of users that can use Office on that PC this way but unable to confirm.)
