to Jabbify
I've been trying to follow the instructions on the wiki:
http://wiki.jabbify.com/index.php?title=Get_Started_with_Simple_Client
but it doesn't seem to be working. When I load index.html in the
generated jabbify app in the browser I get a blank page. It appears
to be looking for a production.js file that does not exist. If I
remove the ,production from it it appears to load more .js files but
gives me an permissions error trying to connect, presumably it's
trying to access the jabbify server but can't since it's been served
from a file. Are these instructions just wrong or am I missing
something? I'd like to use jabbify for a paying client but need to do
some customization.

Thanks in advance,

Chris Nelson

Hi Chris,

It sounds like you're trying to open the wrong index.html.  In the instructions, you're generating an index.html in the same level of the directory as your apps, controllers, and jmvc folders.  There is another index.html generated at apps/jabbify_simple_client/index.html, but that is not what you should be using.  This index.html is a file that helps JavaScriptMVC with compression, but is not meant for users to open.  I can see why that would be confusing.

Try that and let me know if you get further.  Are you loading from the filesystem?

Hey, that worked.  I was indeed looking at the wrong index.html file.  Thanks!  I'm sure I'll have more questions shortly, but for starters, is there API docs for Jabbify somewhere?

Feel free to ask if you have any questions.  I'd love to see the end result of your customizations.  We'd feature you on a new community page we're creating soon.

Thanks,
Brian

Why didn't it work when he removed the production file?  Should work from a blank app that loads the simple client.  If there is config, simple client should work by default without it.

Sounds like he was loading from filesystem.  If using FF3, loading from file with javascripts "above" it in the directory structure is known to cause problems.

Yeah, but only if he was using FF3 should this have been a problem?

I was using FF3.  When I loaded the correct index.html it worked.

Thanks!
