Jabbify Comet Service Get Old Messages

Hello,

Am wondering if it is possible to get older messages from your comet
service. I wish to start a simple one-on-one chat and i need older
messages (incase the user shuts his/her window and logs in later
again). I want something like

getmessages (40, 'from: XYZ'); // something like this

A method to call older message is good, however, exporting older messages via API would be better.

We are trying to limit our api that has us store data as much as possible.  We want to keep it focused on push technology and not data storage - primarily b/c storage is understood by everyone.  

However, we will make the exception for simple chat clients.

  In my opinion, exporting messages isn't as critical of a feature.  If storage of messages is that important, you can always have the messages saved on your local machine before being pushed out to jabbify.

I understand exporting is not critical nor urgent . I thought since you are storing old messages, exporting would be nice to have in API.

Jabbify.user_count and Jabbify.users_list

These are already in Javascript API but getting them from server side would be good :)

Second thought, Jabbify.users_list is only needed since we can figure out the user number from Jabbify.users_list

BTW, have you had a change to look at private messaging from server side API and sending arbitrary data?

And lastly, thanks for letting me using this amazing service :) I really appreciate it!!

Private messages of arbitrary data should be possible.  If you are having problems, email brian....@gmail.com and he can help you through it.

The user number is much less expensive for us to give than the users list.  If your site is big enough, there will be penalties for the user_list vs the user count.  

You should be able to get them from the server, just look how the client makes the requests.
