Hello all,

I've released a test version that updates the libraries we rely on for the 3D rendering and would appreciate any testing that people can give it, it should be functionally identical to the 2025-05 release otherwise.

Please note a few issues that may come up:
- the minimum java version is raised from Java 8 to Java 11 for this version, while we are not committed to making this a requirement yet, ongoing support for the 3d libraries has ended for java 8,9,10.

Please let me know of any successes running this test version, and especially any issues/problems.

Harvey

Hello, thank you very much.

It worked normally here.

I use Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS with OpenJDK 21.

Everything seems normal.

I'll use it this week, if I notice any problems, I'll let you know.

Thank you very much.

Atenciosamente,
Cristiano Luís Turbino de França e Silva

Can I assume you're running on an x86-64 machine, there are a few arm64 users out there, but still a minority.

One more release candidate from jogl, test versions below for anyone willing/able to try out these versions. Same caveats apply from the -rc2 versions.

One more release candidate with the updated JOGL graphics library.

Please note that Java 8, 9, 10 compatibility has been restored with this version and will likely _not_ require an update to Java 11 or later at this time. Please test and let me know if any issues with the graphics are found. (Success reports are also greatly appreciated)

Cheers,

Harvey

Thanks Harvey, this solves the issue I raised in the following thread where I wasn't able to run the graphical version of JaamSim on Ubuntu Desktop.

Thanks Mark for testing.

Any chance you could try the plain 2025-06 release as well that doesn't have the jogl release candidate update? There were some windowing changes separate from the jogl update that I'd be very curious to know if it made any difference.

Yes, it works with the plain 2025-06 release as well.  It could have also been an issue with Virtual Box that got resolved in the newer releases as I haven't tried the combination of new code + old Virtual Box.

This is likely to be pretty close to the final release candidate of the jogl 2.6.0 library, appreciate any testing that people can offer to see if any thing breaks as we intent to update the internal version once the final 2.6.0 release happens. All testing welcome and appreciated. Functionally, this test version should behave identically to the 2025-07 release.

Cheers,

Harvey

This is very likely to be the final release candidate of jogl, I'd be particularly interested to hear from any MacOS users on how this one is working for them. Happy testing all.

Harvey - I have tried your joglrc7 exe (I'm using Windows 11) with half a dozen of my models which have a range of graphics/animations and haven't noticed anything untoward. I haven't tried to build this rc from scratch, but one of the earlier rcs built fine. So looks OK from the new jogl point of view.

Best wishes,

John

I open JaamSim, add an object, and don't save it.
I click to open a new one, and the program closes.

Hmm, that's definitely unexpected, does this occur reliably or only occasionally? And does this occur with the plain JaamSim2025-07.jar as well?

In the meantime a final release of Jogl 2.6.0 has come out, I've put out a final testing version to try and iron out any issues in the library update.

One interesting thing to note, FreeBSD-amd64 is now a supported combination for those that are interested, this is currently totally untested on my end.
