Auto-complete customization

Hi all,

In the version I am using, the auto-complete works with the space bar. This makes it very intrussive when commenting the code, to the point that I first need to write two words together and then go back and type the space.

Is there a way to move it to the tab key or to disable it?

Press the Escape key or click on the expression to close an unwanted pop-up menu that has appeared.

Thank you, Harry.

The problem with that approach is that text is usually typed too fast to even notice there is a suggestion. But I know the use of Notepad++ is adviced, so I will follow that recommendation.

Hi Alvaro,

I agree that the auto-complete menu for functions can be a nuisance because it frequently appears when it is not wanted. In the next release, it will be changed to ignore the space bar. The other auto-complete menus for objects and outputs will continue to use the space bar as before.

This behaviour has been fixed in release 2025-05.
