Hi,

I just saw JaamSim and I am thinking of using it to simulate an Automated warehouse system. I searched for "warehouse" on this group and discovered some posts which had examples for a sorter and a simple warehouse.

I am a beginner to JaamSim and based on the little research I have done I have read about functions like match and assign.

One of my requirements is to define a storage rack and store cartons with SKUs (join same SKUs if possible) and then retrieve SKUs as possible. As there may be multiple cranes within the storage area, the system would choose the least busiest crane. Similarly, when retrieving as well, it would do likewise.

Typing out just only one part of the warehouse, it sounds complicated. Would JaamSim be able to handle something like this?

Even if there are no examples, at least if I could be shown the right direction it would help greatly.

Thanks in advance!

Yohan.

Yohan,

How many unique items would your warehouse need to store? JaamSim is okay up to a few hundred thousand items but starts to slow significantly beyond that point. You can use a Queue to model the warehouse and identify each SKU with its Match input. The attached model will help you to understand how the various objects work -- this is the one that was posted to the forum back May ("a Sorter").

The best way to build your model is to should start with the simplest possible version of your warehouse and get that working. Then add complexities one-by-one. Feel free to ask questions if you get stuck.
