Is there anyway to wrap the JaamSim universal jar into a standalone executable so when someone downloads it there is no need to download Java (For Windows)? Meaning it would bundle the jre with it and run without any external installation. I've tried launch4j but there is always an error with the 3d graphics card library. Thanks.

That feature is available in later versions of Java. We haven't tried it ourselves, but are considering it for sometime in the future.

The error you describe with launch4j suggests that the JOGL2 user library is not set up properly in launch4j. If you have the code set up in Eclipse, look under Window > Preferences > Java > Build Path > User Libraries > JOGL2.

In Eclipse, I am also getting this error when running JaamSim. It does not shoe the view screen but everything else shows. Thanks!

There are a couple of problems with your Eclipse setup: 1) the java sources for the JaamSim project need to include the resource files, and 2) the JOGL2 user libraries needs to be included. The attached screenshots show how these two parts of JaamSim should be set up.

The JaamSim Programming Manual that is available on the downloads page of the website provides more information on how to set up Eclipse.  The document has not been updated for many years, but it should be easy to interpret it for recent versions of Eclipse.

Once you get Eclipse set up successfully, you should be able to get launch4j to work.

Are you still getting the same error messages that you reported earlier?

Try right-clicking on the JaamSim project in the Package Explorer window and select 'Refresh'. That will rebuild everything from scratch. I find that it is necessary to do a refresh in this way whenever external changes are made such as checking out a new commit in git.

I am confused by your answer -- there is no other code than the JaamSim code. Are you sure that Eclipse does not show any compilation problems? A problem would provide a clue to what is going wrong with your installation.

Are you getting exactly the same set of error messages that you reported earlier? The first one  "*** INPUT ERROR *** Entity: PolylineModel, Keyword: JavaClass - Unresolved compilation problem:" suggests that the JOGL2 user library is not set up correctly. All the subsequent errors are the result of this one.

That is the 'Console' tab, which shows the errors after launching the program. What is under the 'Problems' tag, which shows the compilation errors?

Okay, now we are making progress. All these compilation errors must be resolved before JaamSim can be launched successfully.

Some of the errors can be suppressed by changing the settings under Window > Preferences > Java > Compiler > Errors/Warnings. Others will point to a genuine problem with the way the code has been set up on your computer.

The errors involving assertTrue, assertFalse, and assertEquals should be prevented by the code:  "import static org.junit.Assert.assertTrue;", etc. in the various classes. Check the code where the error is reported and see if you can figure out what is going wrong.

Turns out some were missing import statements. The only type of error I'm getting now are these.

That last type of error "'<>' cannot be used with anonymous classes" is a strange one. I don't see why it should apply to the anonymous classes that have been tagged. I also don't see any settings under the Errors/Warnings that relate to this error. I will discuss this problem with a colleague and get back to you.

I see that you are using Java 8, which is fine. Have you changed the JDK Compliance setting under Window > Preferences > Java > Compiler? It should be left at the default setting of 1.8 (i.e. Java 8). A lower setting will cause compiler errors.

Yes, that is correct. Confirm that the setting have not been overridden for the JaamSim project. There should be no project-specific settings.

There is definitely something wrong with the Java version, settings, or something in your Eclipse installation. The code that is being flagged as an error is correct for Java 8 and beyond.

Click on Project > Preferences > Java Compiler. The box marked "Enable project specific settings" should not be checked.

I'm a little confused by this error, looking back at previous screenshots and picking one, there's an error in Seize at line 73. But when I go look at the jaamsim source code, I see:

Which doesn't match the error being generated at all, have you modifed the jaamsim source code, something seems very very confused in your eclipse setup.

Click on "Configure Project Specific Settings' in the upper right corner of the window. This will open a new window that will show you whether or not any project specific settings have been made already. Disable any of these settings that have been made!
