Simulating changeover time / set-up time

Hi,

I would like to simulate changeover time / set-up time on a production line. I have considered using Downtime, but as far as I know, it can only be activated via fix interval or with the help of a probability distribution object.

Can Downtime be activated based on number of products processed by a server, or based on the value of a boolean indicator?

Is there any other way to simulate changeover/set-up time (e.g. TimeSeries, EntityGate, etc.)?

P.S. Under "changeover time / set-up time" I mean the time needed to change a machine in the production line to be able to produce a different product.

Use the following combination of objects to include set-up time in your model:

• a Seize to seize the necessary resources
• an EntityDelay to model the set-up time
• an EntityDelay to model the processing time
• a Release object to release the resources

Alternatively, you could use a Server whose ServiceTime input is an expression that returns the sum of the set-up time and the processing time.

Hey, what did you end up using as your solution? I'm also trying to figure out how to schedule downtime based on units processed, instead of time.
