I noticed on my Windows 7 laptop that only the Control Panel sub-window appears upon the first click of the JaamSim icon from the windows task bar. I have to click the icon on the task bar twice more (once to minimize, and again to restore) before all of the JaamSim windows appear correctly. The same behaviour occurs if I use WindowsKey + Tab to switch between applications.

That is correct. The JaamSim tool windows (Input Editor, etc.) are not sub-windows, although we have given them similar functionality. The are actually free-float windows that are closed when the Control Panel is minimized and re-opened when it is restored.

We are still experimenting with this aspect of JaamSim's user interface. We might go all the way to a sub-window system for the tools, but leave the view windows free-floating.

Is it the intended behaviour that only the top free-float window appears when JaamSim is restored? I would have thought all of the free-float windows should appear when JaamSim is restored. It seems unusual to have to click the application 3 times in order for all the free-float windows to appear. I noticed that this does not happen every time, and I'm guessing you are not able to reproduce this behaviour.

No, it's not supposed to work that way -- all of the windows should move to the top when they are restored. I've noticed this problem myself, but haven't been bothered by it enough to figure out what is going wrong. Although I've seen it quite often, it's not strictly reproducible which makes it harder to debug. I remember when the other windows were made to behave like sub-windows, we had problems with the six windows fighting for focus and had to turn off some of the automatic features. This may be the root of the problem.

Is this a significant problem for you or just a mild annoyance?

Mild annoyance. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of it. Please continue to work on more pressing issues.

This bug has been fixed in JaamSim 2015-22.
