Hi everyone!

So let's say I have a container that goes to an Unpack object from its WaitQueue object. I already have the service time, but I also want to model a delay before and after the unpacking. Is there any simple way to do this?

Just like when you unload a barge, you have a berthing time before the unloading starts and a delay between the time when unloading is finished and the time when the barge departs.

Thank you in advance.

Wafi,

There is no easy way to add initial and final delays to the Unpack object itself. Use an EntityDelay before and after the Unpack to model these delays. You may need to Seize and Release a resource representing the berth, so that the resource is held during these two activities.

If this is a consulting assignment, you should consider using JaamSim Pro which is designed specifically for models involving ships, barges, trucks, trains, etc. See jaamsimpro.com for more information.

Harry,

Thank you so much for the suggestion, it really makes sense to use Seize and Release. For JaamSim Pro, I think right now the Open Source one is enough for me since I'm just an engineering student. Thank you for the offer by the way.
