Hi,

I'm a student working on a factory line-balancing project in JaamSim (small assembly line, roller/idler product), and going through the 2026-05 release notes I saw "File Writing" is already on your outstanding feature request list. Wanted to add a real use case for it since I need something similar for my project.

I need to dump a summary per station (cycle time, idle time, utilisation) into a csv so I can bring it into Excel for my report. I looked at ExpressionLogger and the Custom Output Report but they don't quite fit - ExpressionLogger needs a WatchList/trigger and has a fixed log format, and the Custom Output Report only prints once at the end of the run. Couldn't find a way to just write a line to a file whenever I want, from wherever in the model logic.

Something like a FileWriter object could work - a FileName input, some kind of Format input like the Text object has so I can drop expressions into the string, a way to trigger it (WatchList maybe, or called from an Assign), and an Append option so it doesn't overwrite the file every time.

Is this close to what you had in mind for that item? Let me know if you need more info on my use case.
