EXHIB: BEYOND LIKES AND COMMENTS | 2.2.13 | 10am to 12:3Opm

With the advent of social networking we have stereotyped the process of sharing-n-enjoying photographs with Likes and Comments with cliched adjectives. How about assembling at an indoor location and reviewing photographs captured during our photowalks.
Organised by Bangalore Photowalk is a community that brings together the people who are passionate about photography in Bangalore. We organize photowalks on weekends aiming to capture and document nature, heritage, streets, festivals and specific events of interest to photography.

SPACE, Goa, the Society for Promoting the Arts, Culture and Education, actively supports young people towards professionalizing the arts and mentors Space Art Event, focussed on the visual arts; Space Media Cell centred on film; and Space Theatre Ensemble with its core, the performing arts. They will perform:
> The Legend of Paikeachi Zor, a 40-minute performance using movement, voice and a jazz soundtrack to depict the almost sacred harmony between life and water. With a grant from the department of science and technology, this toured Goa extensively raising awareness on how water resources in the state were being destroyed by open-cast mining.
> Woman River, a performance of poetry in voice, movement that passionately decries violence against women. Woman River is actually a small composition, based on the poetic links that bind a larger dramatic work written by Ujwala Samarth, also an old friend of the ensemble.

INFLATABLES FOR CHANGE - A Workshop on how to make inflatables | 3.2.13 | 10am to 6pm
As artists and activists, we combine the imagination of art with the interventional politics of Direct Action to explore new tools of creative resistance. Among such tools are inflatables as multifunctional props for protests and actions.
Sign-up at jaaga.in/tools-for-change for a full day participatory skill-share on art-activism. An initial conceptual grounding on art-activism and sharing stories of personal transformation will be followed by the practical making of an inflatable. In between theory and hands-on work, the day will be peppered by physical exercises. We request you wear comfortable clothing. The workshop will be held in english (and kannada).

Register now at jaaga.in/tools-for-change
Application deadline: 31.01.2013

THE URBAN AVANTGARDE + SILENT PARTY | 3.2.13 | 7:30pm
urbanavantgarde.in
In February last year a unique project that brought together 9 German artists alongside their Indian counterparts to take over the streets of Malleswaram, the buses and train station that connect to that neighborhood, to create art was undertaken with the support of Goethe Institut, Bangalore and the Directorate of Urban Land Transport. What resulted was a series of public art works, performances, workshops and excursions into the heart of one of the oldest neighborhood of Bangalore.

Big Yellow Taxi, a Bangalore-based production house, will screen for the first time, their amazing 15min. documentary film on the process and creation of these public art works. Stuthi Ramesh, a Bangalore-based graphic designer will present the book capturing the project and the large numbers of contributors and supporters behind it.

This milestone moment will be followed by a first for Jaaga, perhaps Bangalore - a Silent Party where leading German and Indian electronica artists will spin more than two hours of audio sykosis transmitted most silently via wireless headphones to each of you! A prefect, crowning experiment, an evening celebrating Urban Avantgarde.

Cheers! And see you real soon,

Archana
