Hi Mayank & Kristin,

Hope you're both doing well. I'm trying to develop some classifiers using leg tracking data (distal point and angle of each leg) from CaltechFlytracker and eventually SLEAP. I'm wondering how to go about incorporating this data into the trx.mat file and subsequent perfume features. I think what I'm asking is how to go about extending PrepareJAABAData to work with these "new" tracking systems.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Best,
Eric

Hi Eric,

Great to hear from you! JAABA doesn't have an easy way to incorporate detailed tracking from other trackers but you can import tracking from projects in APT (https://github.com/kristinbranson/APT). APT provides multiple algorithms for single-animal and multi-animal tracking and identity tracking. We are in the process of writing up the paper for it.

However, if you already have tracking results that you would like to use let us know with an example tracking file and I'll send you details on how to set up a dummy APT project and create APT-compatible tracking files that can be used in JAABA.

Mayank

Hi Eric
Ditto on the great to hear from you! Hope you're doing well.
Just to expand a bit on Mayank's answer. Here's more details on how we've extended JAABA to work with keypoint tracking https://github.com/kristinbranson/APT/wiki/Using-APT-tracking-data-in-JAABA
You can use just keypoint data or in addition to body tracking data. If you have body data, I would suggest continuing to use it because of all the engineered features in JAABA for fly bodies.
Cheers,
Alice
