the Lake Pontchartrain Racing Circuit was held last weekend.  We have competed in the past with lukewarm results.  This was our year:

On top of that we finished up a 5 week series with Southern Yacht Club, results to follow:

Great job John and team!  Those LPCR races were in really light air.  Did you race with just the regular jib and A2 or did you use any light reaching sails (etc.)?  How many crew?

Any other tips particular to the 92S?

Geeze 4 hours for an 18 mile race?
Did I read that correctly?

Well done mate.

The first two races were in light air (5 - 8).  The distance race had parts where we drifted faster than our competition.  The final race of the day started in light air and after rounding became a drifter.  We used our #1 3DL jib and an A1.5 light spinnaker in the distance and the last race.  The first two races had enough wind to use our #1.5 headsail (3Di) and the A2 spinnaker.

My tips would be to set the rig right for your sails.  We find with our A2 we can soak almost as low as conventional boats, in lighter winds we use the A1.5 and reach up high.  Upwind we work hard to stay with the fleet, our advantage comes after rounding the windward mark.  I have always loathed sailing in light air, but not this time!!  Keep moving, heal the boat to help hold the sail shape, keep several sets of eyes out of the boat looking for new wind and do whatever it takes to get there first.  Keep weight forward, out of the cockpit.
