Hi,

Looks like Harken has stopped supplying certain spare parts for the 40.2 ST circa ‘93-’98.  They’re not supplying self tailer parts but instead suggesting a $500 per drum retrofit to the more modern ST design.  Hmmm.. So I’m thinking of going with new primaries.  Has anyone got experience with the Radials vs Performa line?  Based on what I can see online, the main difference is spring loaded tailer jaws, sand blasted drum and weight optimization on the Performa’s.  Also a $350.00 per drum price differential.

You weren't supposed to notice that.

I sailed on a J/111 with what I suppose were the Radials - they were
plastic and felt like the birdie . . .

cheeep, cheeep!

This reminds me, my original Harken 40-2's (non-ST) were overhauled
and placed on consignment a year ago. The guy priced them at $950 for
the pair which was way too high. If anybody needs them I'll entertain
a more reasonable offer. They are faster on tacks because you can
strip the sheet off the top.

I replaced all of the self-tailers on Thin Man with Harken non-ST's
before she first splashed in '07.

If you need a self-tailer, you're just not using your teeth properly. ;-)
