Does anyone have a nice setup for sheeting the Genoa close to the railing during reaching when a A2 or A3 can’t be used?

I tried to put a ring on point:

A in the picture but it’s too much forward
C too much aft and really not sure if the thin metal can handle the pressure of the Genoa…
B would be the best place but I really don’t want to make any more holes in the boat.

We are not  using tweakers for the assy so I would be able to maybe use those blocks and cleat for a outhaul system where a ring is attached to the middle of a dyneema which goes from Point A to C (could eave be cleated in the cleat at point c?) . But will they hold?

Hi,

I have reinforced my stanchion bases by removing the bit of balsa core under the base edge (more on why later), then fixing it by using a combination of thickened Vinylester resin, fiberglass (1708 and 1808) and a G10 plate.

I say that because I used "A" in your picture, pretty successfully as a barberhauler with my 145% genoa although I think my track goes 6 to 9 inches farther forward than yours.

The inner edge of the stanchion base is over the start of the balsa cored deck.  Over time ('92 boat, 32 years old...), 4 of the 6 bases (and the bow pulpit too) cracked the top layer of fiberglass before I got the boat.  I didn't realize this until I dried out core around it and it got wet again the next year.

Thanks for the reply!

I realised that I could use the tweakers. Now I hook the spinn sheet to the Genoa clew and then I use the tweaked to set the angle.

Works great!
