Has anyone purchased a mainsail cover recently?

The one the came with the boat was trash and to this point I have kept the boom bare. I would like to be able to keep a cruising main bent on.  So many choices. Labor is very high here in the Bay Area and as much as I would like to have it stitched local ( and still may) I am curious about other peoples experiences.   Maui Pro? Others?

Thanks

Hi,

My only advice is if they ask you to measure it, measure "generously", make it big, it can always be cut down a bit.  My cover is too big if I roll the main like I do when racing in a series.  But if I leave the slides in the mast, it's good but could actually be a little longer.  So by now you've probably figured out I was trying to avoid the "skinny jeans"/"stuffed sausage" look :-).

I measured mine out and had an older gentleman in NJ make one for me for a fraction of what I could find online. Really nice quality and could customize it to my liking. Would suggest finding someone local even if it's a few dollars more

Good morning,
Any chance you have the measurements or his name?

Thanks

We purchased a mainsail and jib cover from The Sailor's Tailor five years ago, and it is still holding up well.  They were even willing to customize the jib cover to tweak a couple of things that we requested.  We don't use it very often anymore as our daysailing jib has sunbrella on the foot & leach now.  Boom cover doesn't show any signs of wear or tear.

There are alternatives to sunbrella these days
