I am looking for a J/44 cover. I think a J/46 would be close enough to fit as well.

Did you find a J44 to buy? Which one?

I have been shrink wrapping my 44.  I keep saying I’m going to have a proper cover made, but haven’t gotten around to it.

I have a cover from Fairclough. Not cheap but very good! And they have a service to install/uninstall/Summer store it.

I have the same one, the full-enclosure version.   Mine was originally cut for a J/42, but when the boat was sold, the new owner didn't want it.   So, the previous owner listed it here.   It fits a J/40 almost perfectly, with just a bit of extra fabric at the transom that's easily bunched up.

For Maryland winters, the full enclosure is overkill.   As the pictures show, you're basically building a conduit and furring strip frame that supports the canvas.  It takes most of a day to put it together, especially the first time.   If I were to buy a new one, I'd go for the "boom tent" version.

FYI, if someone else finds a used one, the 2-digit number near the Fairclough logo is the year that it was made.   Mine is a "00" and the fabric seems perfectly serviceable for many more years.
