Good morning everyone-  we tweaked the steering pedestal last year and my homegrown fixes are not going to cut it for the Bermuda race and beyond.  I dont have access to the boat right now and neglected to get that actual measurement when I was aboard this weekend,  but was hoping anyone knew or was on their boat to share the deck to center of the steering wheel height as its listed on the Edson spec sheet as "custom height".

I am not sure and Edson isnt sure if that was an optional customization by the original owners or something Jboats did the same for all J40s.

Thanks for your help.

Drew,

I'm working on Spada right now.  The center of the steering wheel nut is about 25.5 inches above the teak footwell panel.

Thanks a ton Joe!  Is the footwell panel the small foot boards to brace against sliding or is there a board that the pedestal sits on top of?

Drew,

On Spada, there's a teak panel on top of the fiberglass footwell molding which is about 3/8ths inch thick.

When I replaced the cables on mine we learned that the system was designed specifically for the J40.

Hopefully that means it’s all the same!
