We’ve talked about the head door hinges in the past; does anyone have a line on where I can pick them up or a better option for hinges. Thanks much TI affinity.

I would look for heavier versions than the original. The tiny screws in one of mine have pulled out and my first thought was to reinstall with heavier screws. However because of the way the hinges work, there is no room for any screw head larger than the dollhouse-sized ones they came with.

While you are waiting to get new hinges, if yours are working but the screws are not holding, just remove the doors/hinges and drill out and glue/bung the holes. Then you can re screw your existing hinges into new wood, for a temporary fix.

Hi Wayne,
That would be wonderful. I could use six, but will gladly receive what you can spare. Name the price and shipping cost. Thank you.

No worries on a price. I’ll see how many I have. Do I recall there is a left hand, right hand difference? I’ll send some photos of what I have.

On the door on the forward head, all three are broken. On the door of the aft, head two are broken on the door of the V berth one is broken and on the door of the quarter of berth one is broken. Total 7 It didn’t even occur to me that they might go on different ways.

San Diego Hardware has those hinges, any specialty hardware store will have them. Then buy tapered 3/8" plugs, like you need to repair lost plugs in teak decks, or buy a 3/8" tapered plug cutter and make the plugs yourself, but you'd need a drill press. Drill out the failed holes on your door jamb with a sharp 3/8" bit, and glue in the plugs (new wood). Once the glue sets, shave off smooth with the level of the mortise using a sharp chisel, or if there is no mortise, just shave smooth to the level of the surrounding jamb. Then pre-drill the holes and install your new hinge. easy to do a good job but you do need the right tools.

Thanks for the lead on where the hinges could be located.
