Ahoy J28 Sailors.
I need to re-bed Matangi's pulpit and the genoa rails. Being that my first time doing this, I am seeking for recommendations for bedding material. Also, I have been seeing a lot of articles about butyl tape but have not find anyone that actually have used it. Any opinions?

I believe this is your intent, remove the pulpit and rails. Enlarge holes to approx one inch, check for dry core, then fill with epoxy. Drill new holes thru the epoxy and remount the hardware. If core is wet or damaged, then you have a delimitation issue to address.
