Water Tank Leak

Hello fellow sailors.  I am the owner of Hull #23 - Matangi. 

I recently discovered a small hole in the top side of my water tank that does not allow it to be filled to its maximum capacity. Although it is not a critical issue - we mostly do day sails and do not need all those 35 gallons - I would like to fix it. 

Does anyone know the material of the tank? It looks plastic but it is yellowish in color.

Did anyone have repaired the water tank? Any recommendations about the best way to close the hole?

I didn't have a hole, but wanted to be able to inspect and clean the water tank.  I installed three 4" deck ports.  Depending on where your hole is, might consider a port.  They haven't leaked and I've found useful.
