I am putting My boat on a trailer for the first time. It will be on a ramp and wanted to be as ready as possible. Any ideas on measurements for the trailer?

I think you will need a crazy long tongue extension to ramp launch a boat with a 5 foot draft.  Also, how will you step and unstep the mast?  Being a keel stepped mast which is approximately 45 feet long would make that challenging.  If you want to trailer a J28 I would think that you would be better off using a lift and not a ramp, but I may be wrong.

I would agree on all parts. The boat is on a mountain lake. Relatively steep and long ramp. My rig is a 40’ Trailer hauled with my  Kenworth ( We are Professional RV People) and I Intend to have about a 30ft tow strap. Maybe a 20’ tow bar. I just finished the ramping wheels and could weld up a bar pretty easily. Once I get her on the hard, a 60’ Telehandler or mobile crane/Sign Truck should lift it. I was a rigger in The Coast Guard and a Mast Captain on the Eagle. And as to the last point, it is crazy here as there are no lifts on this lake. Everything with the exception of our little sailboat dock is houseboats and pontoon boats…Someone once said “ The lake is where sailboats go to die.” They are not kidding. But picture a 100ft house boat launched with an f350 on a ramp. There is a whole of on hooping and guessing going on.
