I found this add browsing around craigslist. Maybe someone would be interested in restoring. I don't have any details but always sad to see one of these boats get junked. Northeast boat it seems like.

Rain water entered the salon about 6"
Did not reach the engine or any vital parts.
You will need 3 pieces of plywood about $150-$350 depending on quality each to redo some furniture and floor boards.
Will need new rigging mast boom sails

If you can find some aluminium mast with sails for cheap you can have a pretty nice boat.

Thanks, Frank. This is the only mailing list where it doesn’t default to “reply all".

I’ve had to learn this as well 😂. Took me a few tries.

Just so everyone know, the picture included in the listing is my boat, hull #4, located in Ottawa, Canada. It is NOT the boat that is for sale. That picture was taken from the J28 page on Wikipedia.

I hope the boat is in restorable shape and that someone is up to the task. Would hate to see one of these great boats sent to landfill.

Cheers,
Tom

Seems fishy maybe? Who lists a boat for $4999? And uses someone else's picture? Mine is the one listed in Tn ( Hull #1) And I posted the honest pics and honest description. She is slowly rotting away on lake somewhere... The lake is where sailboat go to die. If it is real, and someone buys it, I can assist with the loan of a trailer for Transport.

I conferred with the other moderator (Jeff Keen) and changed the J28 google groups reply settings from “Sender Chooses Recipient” to “All Group Members”.

I just pinged him, and he said he has someone that is in the process of buying it to restore. Hopefully that deal goes through!

Hi Greg,

Did he send you any pictures of the boat by any chance? I’m always looking for my parent J 28 “Hound” so curious what this boat looks like. The seller didn’t answer me when I messaged.

Thanks!

Frank
